Connect Festival is an annual festival, arranged by Tongeneration and the composition students from Malmö Academy of Music. Its aim is to present a varied take on today’s contemporary music, with music written in the continuous development of western art music, either for traditional ensemble settings or for more obscure ones.

Connect festival 2026 will take place from March 27th to March 29th 2026
The CONNECT Ensemble is Connect Festival’s own Festival Ensemble with a fluid constellation.

Solo Violin

Violinist Peter Sheppard Skærved is acclaimed internationally for performances of a vast range of solo repertoire. His repertoire stretches from the late 16th century to hundreds of works written for him: these include major works by composers by established ‘greats’ such as Hans Werner Henze and George Rochberg, to the many young composers with whom he collaborates worldwide.

Percussion Quartet

Four newly graduated, classically trained percussionists challenge conventional chamber music, with a focus on giving the audience an experience beyond the ordinary. The four members, who each have at some point studied with the percussion virtuoso Johan Bridger, formed Ode to Noise in 2023 and have since skillfully interpreted works including Andy Akiho’s Grammy-nominated Seven Pillars.
